Quite dark, with cool-edged structured fruit that shows toast, and dark chocolate notes to the black currant and dark cherry fruit. Sourced from the southern end of the Valley, it has small amounts of Merlot, Malbec and Franc. The combination gives you one simply delicious, round, well structured Napa Cab- a delight to drink with food or even all by itself. It has blackberry and vanillin from the oak, hints of tobacco and a slightly herbacious quality. This is their flagship wine, and you can see why. I met Bob Mckenzie in 2008 at his winery and he is a very caring, down to earth man- his wines reflect that personality to a tee.
